Reuse and creative reuse are important to me on many levels. The amount of waste thrown away is staggering (especially in the United States!), and the attitude towards consuming is one of the reasons I got involved in creative reuse. I became the general manager at SCRAP (San Francisco), one of the world’s oldest creative reuse centres, as well as later working at Urban Ore (Berkeley), a similar larger model. I had already been buying items from both places both as an artist and an educator running creative workshops, so working there was an easy transition! I now currently volunteer at Kunst-Stoffe-Berlin.
